Tavelan Arethuzi is a noblewoman of Sky Fort and a member of House Arethuzi of Phyrozes. She is the eldest child of Lord Maha Arethuzi and his wife, Lady Kahulan Ardeyi. Her family managed to secure her a marriage to King Jaerros Alzari of Thospeiros after two years of aggression and eventual negotiation post Equilibrium Utopia laws.
After her marriage to Jaerros, she becomes the first Traxei queen consort of Thospeiros and took residence in the Hall of Gratification, an ancient wing of the castle meant to house Traxei slaves during the colonial times.
Appearance
Tavelan is said to greatly resembles her mother; lilac eyes, bronze skin, and white hair she kept long in waves. It was said that Lord Maha Arethuzi loved her ‘quick wit and even quicker appetite’ and doted on her in her youth. Maha would take her to his court and had her carrying his cups and kettle instead of her brother. Tavelan was born a plump babe, and her weight never truly gone away; as a grown woman, she is big-breasted with thick waist and thick thighs.
Tavelan regularly plucks her eyebrows to perfect arches. She has a beauty mark on the right side of her upper lips and she has long, fluttery eyelashes. She has her mother’s glare and none of her father’s softness; even as a child, Tavelan has always described to be ‘prickly and pouty’.
Tavelan dresses richly in silk and linens, favoring the color of purple and gold. She loves pearl and sapphires, and would purposely shows her cleavage and curves. She wears brass bangles on both her wrists and golden anklet on her right leg.
Personality and Character
Since her youth, Tavelan has been a difficult person; she is quick to anger, rarely forgives – proud and stubborn. Tavelan was introduced to servants’ children to play with, but would only get along with the sons. Two girls who tried to befriend Tavelan ended up with their hair cut sheared clean and their cheeks bruised, and Tavelan confessed that it was her who did it. When being asked why, she merely stated that she ‘hated their little squeaky noise and their wandering eyes’. Despite this, Lord Maha never punished her; rather, he indulged her by having her in his council meetings, fetching him cups and quills as she listened to lords.
As Tavelan grew older, Lady Kahulan noticed patterns of Tavelan being terribly hostile to fellow ladies and overly friendly to lords. Lady Kahulan tried countless of times to rid of Tavelan’s quirk by sending her to serve other ladies and to join banquets and teas, but Tavelan did not change; while she could be charming and was never openly hostile, she never seemed to get rid of her hatred towards other women.
In truth, Lady Kahulan feared that this would give Tavelan a terrible reputation and prevented her to find a good match, but it wasn’t the case; Tavelan is extremely charming, seductive, and pleasant toward men – she also took her lessons with sincerity and has deep understanding of economics, politics, mathematics, and history. She also plays the fiddle and zither well, and she was never short of suitors. After she married King Jaerros Alzari, her behavior turned worse, as Jaerros never truly scolded her for her aggressiveness and lack of respect, instead finding it ‘delightful, akin to that of a grumpy kitten.’
