The Pretender is the lover of Vierros Alzari, who posed as Empress Cianantiras Alzefeni after her death. As Empress Cianantiras Alzari’s death was never disclosed, General Kael Vakveldir sent his troops to scour through Thospeiros to find a woman who greatly resembles the empress. He found The Pretender in a dockside brothel and offered her to take the role of Cianantiras Alzefeni.
Previously, The Pretender was a courtesan who worked in a rundown brothel in The Web Beneath. She accepted the offer as she had felt how much her life improved under Equilibrium Utopia and since Kael promised her siblings’ safety, healthcare, and living.
Appearance
The Pretender greatly resembles Cianantiras from head to toe, with the exception of that her hair falls in ringlet of waves, unlike Cianantiras’ straight one. She has Varkrys pale skin, crimson red eyes, and a gait when she walks, which she gained from Kael breaking her leg in order to mimic Cianantiras’ gait.
The Pretender is tall, with generous bosoms and small waist. She dresses in red, black, and gold, and has long and thick hair. The servants who tended to her hair said that she could have half her hair missing, and no one would notice due to how thick it is. She would often have half of it braided or rolled atop her head to resemble a crown, as she feels apprehensive over wearing one.
The pretender always paints her lips with crimson red rouge as her bare lips have different shape than Cianantiras Alzefeni.
Personality and Character
Unlike Cianantiras Alzefeni, The Pretender speaks softly and is ‘barely seen without a smile on her face’. She loves the company of people and enjoys music and art, although she is not as refined as Cianantiras when it comes to harp and excused herself from playing by saying that she dislikes having calluses on her fingers.
The Pretender loves children and spent a good chunk of her time visiting orphanages and temples in the empire to personally converse and check on the children. She is a devoted mother to Avaras and Aethrros, and would gather palace servants’ children to sit with her as she reads them stories.
While she does not excel in music as Cianantiras did, The Pretender excels at writing poems and needlework. She has written Vierros three books worth of poems and stitched most of his clothing. She is a romantic at heart and loves the idea of romance and courtly love. The Pretender despise lustful men and men who’d frequented brothels due to her past working there, and has jeopardized or sabotaged brothel frequenters at court.
