Aqsha
The rulers of water, the folk of the deep blue, the children of Anathia
Some quote
The Aqsha are one of the six sentient races of Ederav and the only aquatic race among them. They were created by Anathia, the Goddess of the ocean and all bodies of water. The Aqsha primarily dwells beneath the surface of the ocean within The Stronghold, and the ocean is referred to as Chrenatia.
The Aqsha is matriarchal by nature. Their civilization sprawl and descend within the ocean, into kelp forests and coral cities and lightless trenches that no land-dweller has ever mapped.
According to Ath-Einhaf, Anathia asked Vaherdal for a Varkrys and merged them with a fish to create an Aqsha. It was unclear as to how, but from that Varkrys and that fish, she created twelve pairs of Aqsha and spread them across the oceans.
Scholars and historians argued on the exact fish Anathia used to create an Aqsha, but they settled on some sort of oceanic mammal.
The Aqsha are aquatic by nature and amphibious by necessity. They belong in the water, where their lower bodies became powerful scaled tails reaching between one and a half to two meters in length, capable of extraordinary speed and endurance in the water. On land, their tails gradually morph into legs that are functional but otherwise imperfect. Most Aqsha on land move with a gait that ranges from slightly unsteady to fully dependent on a cane or a companion’s arm, particularly for extended distances. The transformation is not painful, it is merely inconvenient – and in some cases, described as ‘itchy’.
The appearance of an Aqsha differs; While the parents would contribute facial structures and height, their coloring depended entirely on the water they were born in.
