Eran, also known as Eran the Traxei, was a slave to Princess Nadheras Alzari, who kept him as a companion and bedmate, and eventually sired three Varkrys children from the princess.
General
Eran was born somewhere around 3,685 to 3,688 BE in The Valley. He was a Traxei hunter-gatherer and was captured along with his rugha, Typhoon, by the Sethri slave dealers and sold to princess Nadheras Alzari about a year after his captivity.
Eran was described to be very short in height – like all Traxei of the time – and depicted in many statues and stone carvings that he reached ‘just a little above the his princess’ breasts’. He had deep golden skin, shoulder-length white hair, and pale grey eyes.
Both records from Thospeiros royal scholars and records in Grave Keep stated that Eran hunched over when he walked, with his footsteps silent and his gaze often wander aimlessly. He had a ‘high-pitched, almost childlike voice that never deepened’ and was ‘never seen without a wooden toy or a doll, even when he visited his sons in Fang’s Hold’. He was said to be fond of beetle honey.
After his sons, Prince Aelirros and Prince Rakairros Alzari, were given their lands to start their own noble house, Eran would fly back between Crimson Sanctuary – where Nadheras was – and Fang’s Hold, his sons’ new home. Although there were many statues and stone carving depicting him, records stated that Eran hated ‘staying still’ for the statues and carving to finish and would play with wooden blocks as he waited.
History
A Sethri magma tablet (now displayed in Hall of the Third Ancestors, Last Crypt) stated that King Valthrros Alzari bought Eran and his rugha for ‘five bars of silver and two thumb-sized moon geode’. The part of the tablet stating the year of when exactly the purchase happened corroded with time, but there was enough detail of Eran’s purchase; he was ‘of terrible temperament, but tamed down from mining labour. His hands a little calloused, but nothing oils would not be able to fix. He is young and lithe, and would serve well, given time.’
While it was quoted from many resources that Princess Nadheras Alzari was given a Traxei slave instead of marrying a Varkrys lord due to politics – with King Valthross believing that to choose a lord as his lawful son would forsaken another lord – it was unclear why, specifically, was Eran who was purchased for Nadheras.
There were not many information of Eran’s life prior to the birth of his children, but Eran was kept a slave long before the Hall of Gratification was built. He was kept in a cage atop of Nadheras’ chambers, right below a sky door. the cage connected to all four chambers within the princess’ living quarters for him and his rugha.
At first, Eran was incredibly hostile that Nadheras had to sort out to extreme measures; branding, starving, separating him from his rugha, and had her guards ‘discipline’ him, which resulted in Eran needing a round-the-clock care from healers for a moon’s cycle. Only after that Eran relented and became ‘more docile’. It was unclear whether Eran knew that the starvation, branding, and torture were ordered by Nadheras or if she swoop in playing a savior’s role to him.
Records from Crimson Sanctuary stated that Princess Daevaras Alzari was born in 3,674 BE, and by then, Princess Nadheras was twenty-four years old. Prince Aelirros Alzari followed in 3,670 BE and Prince Rakairros Alzari was born in 3,660 BE. Afterwards, Eran never sired another child. It was said that he named his youngest son; some accounts stated that Eran claimed Rakai to be the name of his father. Nadheras added the suffix to make it more Varkrys.
Eran most likely did not have much contact with his daughter, Daevaras, as she was taken as a bride by (then) Prince Nedeirros Alzari and was given duties to oversee the Blood Fort quite early in her life. Records stated that Eran tried to look for his daughter the first couple of years, but eventually moved his attention to his sons, Aelirros and Rakairros.
Countless of stone carvings depicted Eran playing with dolls and blocks. Two surviving ledgers of Princess Nadheras Alzari stated a frivolous purchases of many items with Eran’s name as the receiver, namely dolls of cloth, dolls of wool, dolls of porcelain, stone blocks, wooden blocks from Venefigus, puzzles, bone and wood flutes, clothes of linen and silk, and several jewels – although there was an addendum stating that Eran loathed jewelry and begged for more dolls instead. It was unclear how old Eran was when these purchases were made.
The famous statue of Eran and his Rugha, Typhoon, in Fang’s Hold was commissioned by Rakairros. The base of the statue had his own handwriting etched to the stone, stating ‘in honor of my poor father, who laughed like a child when seeing his own face in a statue, and begged me to make Typhoon bigger than he actually was’. Despite the abundance of stone carvings of Eran and his sons, Eran was said to loathe staying still for the sculptors to work, and thus, majority of stone carvings depicting Eran had him sitting on the floor by his sons’ feet playing with his toys.
When Aelirros and Rakairros Alzari were given the right to start their own noble house and built Fang’s Hold, Eran would ride his rugha to fly back and forth between Crimson Sanctuary. This lasted for five years, until his flying frequency lessened as his presence was often sought by Princess Nadheras. Although there were plenty of works recording the establishment of House Aleran, there were no records of Eran having any say about it; as a Traxei hunter-gatherer and later a bed slave, Eran most likely did not understand the significance of noble house and lineage.
It was enunciated in seven different stone tablets that Lord Aelirros tried to bring tutors and to teach Eran how to read and write, but Eran was not at all interested. He either played in the cave ponds to hunt for fish, fly his rugha, or play with countless of toys given to him by Nadheras. He never had interests of Varkrys affairs – and in many different documentations, was said to throw tantrums and break things when he was separated from either Nadheras or his sons for too long, that Nadheras would have him sit on her knees when she was holding court or meeting the council.
Eran remained in Thospeiros for the rest of his life; there were no records of him ever living outside of Thospeiros. Both Eran and Princess Nadheras Alzari passed away in 3,580 AC. It was recorded that Princess Nadheras developed illness from multiple pregnancies and was buried in the Blood Crypt a week after her death. Eran passed away at the end of the year, with records stated that they exhumed Princess Nadheras’ sarcophagus to put Eran inside, as per Nadheras’ will before her death.
Legacy
Many great houses of Thospeiros and Phyrozes descended from Eran through Rakairros and Aelirros. Even until now, Eran is still quoted as one of the most prominent figures of the history of Ederav. While Eran was buried in the Blood Crypt with Nadheras, his rugha, Typhoon, was buried in the lower garden of Hall of Gratification, back when it was still nothing more than an empty plot of land.
In 279 AE, Prince Consort Nagor Ardeyi published a book called ‘The Towers of Crimson Sanctuary’, where he thoroughly documented Eran the Traxei’s life based on relics and compiling historical notes.

Trivia
- Eran loved mountain vines salad and would share it with Typhoon.
- While Eran never said that he had favoritism to any children of his, he liked Aelirros the most.
- Eran and Nadheras had a deep, unhealthy co-dependency.
- Eran was terrified of the dark, and his fear of the dark was the reason why the walls of the palace in Crimson Sanctuary were lined with glow shrooms. Other castles in Thospeiros followed the trend.
- Eran loved puzzles.
Quotes about Eran the Traxei
- “Sadly, there is little to no use attempting to teach something so… primitive.”

-Icairros Alzari to Natheressir Ironwood.
Behind the Scenes

I named the first Traxei I concepted Rian. Then I changed the name to Rean and eventually to Eran. I modeled Eran and Typhoon after them, though Eran would be much shorter than this concept art and had golden skin.
The race Traxei were not originally supposed to be rugha riders (I did not even have rugha as a part of my story back then). They were supposed to be goblin-like with dark golden skin and blue hair named Laraxos and were supposed to be hunted down to extinction by these ghost-like peoplewho can appear and disappear as their elements are air and wind, and they eventually took over Phyrozes. I erased the ghost-people concept.
Phyrozes’ name was originally Arghosta in 2013, then Ghostiane in 2015, before it became Zephyros in 2019 and I moved the letters around to get the word Phyrozes.
In my original draft, Eran, being a humble hunter-gatherer, managed to enter Thospeiros and was bewitched by the wealth and the prowess of the kingdom, and seduced the Queen of Thospeiros to gain access to her wealth and power. The Queen’s name at the time is Naditha, which I later reframed to Nadheras and changed the storyline to the current story.
