Following Emperor Vierros Alzari’s new law of Equilibrium Utopia, Prince Nagor Ardeyi of Phyrozes, being a royalty, was stripped off of his right to trade; the law forbids nobles and royals from trading, saying that they should focus on their fiefs and not accumulate more wealth than necessary… something along those lines. Amidst the existential crisis of not being able to pursue his dream vocation, King Sohan II, Nagor’s father, pulled some strings and had him join the Order of Helmeras.
He wanted a merchant’s life; simple, wealthy, and he get to fly with his rugha, Lady Dune, across the Empire. But joining the Order of Helmeras gave him more opportunities instead… and a life he’d never expected to have.
